Letter for Cruise Stories
By Mike Norden

On Sept. 25, 2005 we set sail from Vancouver to L.A. aboard the Norwegian Star. It was our first cruise and we were going with 250 fellow magicians and families for our annual convention.

We spent five days aboard this magnificent ship, with four ports of call. The free-style dinning was great and the entertainment, fabulous -- the house magician, Shawn Farquhar, is a friend of ours.

To top off the cruise, I planned a little surprise. I had Farquhar bring my girlfriend, Nicole Mitchell, up on stage. He performed a funny routine with her where he promised her prizes such as cash, trips and jewelry. The cash and trip were lost but when he said "jewelry," I came out on stage and dropped to one knee, pulled out the ring and proposed in front of 1,200 people.

She said, "YES!"
